The first player to be eliminated from the final table was MarleyGroup. AmirSF raised and MarleyGroup went all in with A-K. AmirSF called with pocket tens and got a trip on the turn and another four on the river to create a full house, taking the hand and knocking MarleyGroup out in ninth place.

Ikszoorn would knock out the next player with his pocket eights. Coconut Soda called with A-10 but lost the hand when ikszoorn held two pair on the board.

PokerStars Hits 20-Millionth Member Milestone

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

As anyone who follows the online poker industry with the slightest interest is well aware of, PokerStars is by far the largest, most popular online poker room in the entire world. That long-time standing was further magnified as PokerStars hit a major milestone, signing up its 20,000,000th member.

To bring that number into perspective, 20 million is about the same as combining the entire population of New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. This landmark event follows on the heels of PokerStars having recently dealt its 25-billionth hand, a historic Omaha Hi-Lo hand that paid out hundreds of thousands to the collective participants on February 18th, 2009.

PokerStars 20,000,000th member is “Piposko”, a Scandinavian player who signed up an account on February 21st – just 3 days after the 25-billionth hand was played. “Piposko” received a $215 Tournament Ticket for being the historic 20-millionth member to sign up an account with PokerStars.

It was only 3 years ago PokerStars announced a similar landmark event, having registered its 5-millionth member in March of 2006. PokerStars has been setting plenty of records since its inception to the online poker world. Just a few months back, in December of 2008, PokerStars hosted the world’s largest online poker tournament, attracting 35,000 players to an $11 buy-in, $500k guarantee tournament. Had there been no player cap on the event, surely the numbers would have soared even higher.

Proffering what is commonly known as the absolute best online poker software client in the business, along with a phenomenally lucrative tournament schedule that guarantees more than $13 million each month – including the $1.5 million guarantee each Sunday – it’s no wonder that PokerStars has attained, and maintained, the status as the world’s largest online poker room for so long.
