In the past couple weeks it has become apparent that DoylesRoom would be leaving the Cake Poker Network, but we just didn’t know where they’d be going. It’s now been announced by Doyle’s Room that they’ll be joining the Yatahay Poker Network and using their software to run the poker room. The Cake Poker Network and DoylesRoom have been having some problems lately so it isn’t a surprise that they’re moving networks, but what does it mean for players?

Doyle Brunson himself has mentioned already that the move is going to help him change the poker room to what he’s always wanted it to be. When apart of the MicroGaming Network and more recently the Cake Poker Network, DoylesRoom hasn’t been able to offer the tournaments and promotions that they’ve wanted to offer their players. Now that DoylesRoom is on the Yatahay Network they’ll be able to set-up their own promotions and tournaments.

Doyle’s Room has already announced that they’ll be running a $65K Race to the Top promotion. The promotion is a leaderboard for cash games players that’ll be tracked throughout the month of February. The 350 players at the top of the leaderboard will win a prize this month with the grand prize being $7500 for finishing atop of the leaderboard. Only the points you earn at cash games will be counted towards your leaderboard total. If you prefer playing in tournaments there is going to be $500K in guaranteed events every month at DoylesRoom starting in February.

Even with the new promotions one concern that a lot of players have is how will the traffic be in the poker room now. DoylesRoom was never a huge poker room in terms of cash game players and now they’re going to have even less. PokerScout.com is a website that tracks poker traffic and they have ranked the Yatahay Network at 38th in terms of traffic, as the entire network only averages about 100 real money players during peak hours. There is no doubt that the traffic at DoylesRoom will dwindle for a bit, but once they start adding promotions and new features the traffic could pick up a lot in a year or two.

DoylesRoom seems to be always be switching poker networks, but let’s hope they stay with Yatahay for the foreseeable future, as it could turn out to be a wise decision in a couple years. Doyle’s Room will need to add a lot of features to the current software if they want to attract a lot of players because as of right now the software isn’t up to par with other poker sites in the industry.

Doyle Brunson is one of the best poker players in the world and he is normally found at the high stakes tables. Brunson used to frequent tables with $4,000/$8,000 buy-ins which would mean he would be competing with those who are able to afford the buy-in, which is not many. However, Brunson has recently taken to the lower limit tables at his online poker room to welcome new players to his site.
Brunson is now playing regularly at the $5/$10 no limit hold’em tables at Doyles Room to welcome new players to the site. Every day, Monday through Friday, Doyle can be found at the lower limit tables. This is an unusual thing as regular poker players do not usually get to compete against top poker pros for such a low buy-in.

Along with Brunson, players will find other poker pros at the $5/$10 tables as well. Five of the Brunson 10 have been sitting at the lower limit tables as well, Alec Torelli, Zachary Clark, Amit Makhija, Dani Stern and Chris Moorman. Todd Brunson and Hoyt Corkins have also been getting in on the low stakes action.

Poker players who are interested in competing against any of the poker pros can search the tables to find them. Simply go to the Ring Games table and then search for the poker tables highlighted in blue. This is a great opportunity for poker fans of the pros as well as those who just want to say they competed against a real poker professional.

Doyles Room has seen higher traffic since the poker pros have taken to the smaller buy-in games. The site has also seen the no limit ring games averaging around a 20% increase in the prize pots, which is something I’m sure the players are excited about.
