PokerStars has something big to celebrate this year. After emerging relatively unscathed from Black Friday, it now has something to look forward to – its 10 year anniversary. PokerStars started offering games online in December 2001. To commemorate the occasion, it will reward its loyal players with several online events. In keeping with the occasion, there will be 10 events. They will be unveiled, stage by stage. This is what has been announced so far:

Giveaways for the 10th Anniversary

The site is giving away prize packages (100) to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) 2012. There will be three types of qualifiers: ten cent tournaments, 10 FPP tournaments and freerolls. Players who finish at the top of each of these qualifiers will be advanced to one of the finals that are conducted on a weekly basis. They will then compete for the prize packages.

The freerolls will be held every 10 minutes, each day, and the top 10 players will make the finals that are held weekly. The 10 cent tournaments will be conducted every hour and the 10 FPP qualifying rounds will be conducted 35 minutes past each hour. The top 20 players will be allowed to compete in the weekly finals, which will be held in pairs on every Sunday from the 13th of November to the 11th of December.

The top 1,000 finalists in each qualifier will have the chance to win part of $10,000. The top 10 players will win the coveted PCA package. It is worth over $15,000 and includes the buy-in for the PCA main event, as well as accommodation and other expenses.

Sunday Million Valued at $10 Million

On the 18th of December, PokerStars’ Sunday Million, a tournament which takes place every week, will be conducted on a much larger scale than usual. The pot for the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million will be $9 million more than what is usually on offer. The buy-in is set at $215 and the prize pool will be $10 million at least. The qualifiers for the Sunday Million have many different kinds of buy-ins. This includes the Sunday Million Mega Satellite which has a buy-in of $11. It will start an hour before the Sunday Million does and will allow 1,000 players (minimum) entry into the bigger tournament.

Tournament to Set World Record

On the 4th of December, 2011, PokerStars will make an attempt to break the world record – of which they are the previous holders – by hosting a tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of $250,000 and a first prize of $50,000. The buy-in for this event is only $1.

The PokerStars site currently holds the record for their event in 2009 which had 149,196 participants. This year, the online poker room aims to have at least 150,000 players seated at the tables at the same time. Players who enter and play in the tournament as usual, and stay at the tables for hours on end and can make the final table. PokerStars will unveil all its exciting offers over the next few weeks.
