It was recently announced that online poker site Absolute Poker and the Hooters restaurant will be working together to bring poker players an Academy to enjoy. The two have teamed up to offer the Absolute Poker Academy. The academy took place in Hollywood, California on February 25th.

Poker Academy’s are held quite often by online poker rooms. The Academy’s are usually two to three day affairs where fans and poker players can attend and learn more about the game. Most Academy’s have the host site’s pros speaking, teaching and instructing those in attendance. Many Academy’s can cost thousands of dealers and offer the best in poker teachings.

However this Academy created by Absolute and Hooters was free, though it only lasted two hours. The academy took place from 7-9pm at the Hollywood Hooters and players could spend time with Absolute Poker pro Matt Vengrin. The poker pro was on hand to offer up free tips to those in attendance while they enjoyed free wings and beer provided by Hooters.

Vengrin commented on the event by stating: “I’m all about trying new stuff to increase the appeal of poker. This is one of the first of many new things I will be doing to help bridge the gap between the poker world and the world outside of poker.”

Absolute Poker also had set up gaming terminals at the Academy so player could compete against each other. To make the Academy even more interesting, Absolute Poker had Trishelle Cannatella, an ambassador for the site, and Lacey Jones their own poker pro acting as Hooters Waitresses.

To participate in the Academy, players had to email Absolute Poker their screen name as well as first name and last name. This was a unique event to Absolute Poker and will help further catapult the online poker room as one of the top online poker rooms available today.
