Currently, one of more interesting poker event series’ in the world is going on in the Bahamas, as the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure has gone through a few tournaments to this point. The $100k buy-in High Roller event featured some of the biggest names in the poker world, while the PCA Main Event brought in similar types of players, as well as some rising newcomers to the game of poker. While both of these events have gained most of the attention from the poker world, two players who are very well-known have been knocking out some results in other PCA events. While the High Roller event had the largest buy-in on the board, and the Main Event will almost certain draw in one of the highest number of entrants, former World Series of Poker Champions, Jonathan Duhamel and Joe Cada have won side events of their own at this years PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Both players were able to bring in some nice paydays in the form of six-figure winnings, while Duhamel took down the $5k No Limit Hold’em 8-max event earlier this week, while Cada got his win in the $2k No Limit Hold’em event yesterday. It’s a good thing to notice that sometimes playing in those touted big time tournaments may not always be the best way to go, as these two players have shown with their wins this week.

Duhamel‘s victory was spoken about a bit overall, as he has been in and out of the poker news quite a bit the past few weeks, starting with the home invasion and robbery that occurred on him. Fortunately, karma came back to help him out (as well as excellent poker play), and he beat out a solid field of 158 players to win $239,830 off of his $5k buy-in. This isn’t the first nice score for Duhamel at the PCA though, as just days before that he pulled in a fourth place finish at that $100k High Roller event that was worth $313,600 as well. His victory in the $5k event was definitely not easy though, as he was up against a final table that was stacked with incredible tournament player Jason Mercier, WSOP Main Event winner Pius Heinz, gold bracelet winner Kevin Stammen, and two other poker pros in Laurence Houghton and Owen Crowe.

Now to take a look at Cada’s impressive win. The field that he beat out featured a total of 348 players, and won $175,550 for his efforts. His win came over another very strong American player in Michael Telker as well. Two other well-known players made it to the final table of the event that Cada had to outlast, as Shannon Shorr finished in fourth place, while PokerStars pro JC Alvarado came in sixth place.

Cada and Duhamel are definitely two of the more popular players in the game today, as both of them became fan favorites after winning their gold bracelets at the Main Event of the WSOP. These two players should definitely be ones to keep your eye out for in 2012 as well, as both could be in store for big years.
