International Stadiums Poker Tour Names Michael Mizrachi as AmbassadorThursday, July 26th, 2012 by Ryan
Michael Mizrachi is one of the biggest names in poker, and is one that you can definitely consider to be a “household” name. If you are a bit of a more in-depth fan of poker, then you’ve probably heard of the International Stadiums Poker Tour, which is a new tournament series that is being created by the French financing company Groupe Bernard Tapie. This is the same Groupe that was in the middle of that potential massive deal with Full Tilt Poker, b ut it never ended up working out. The ISPT has yet to play their first poker tournament though, but they have made a huge announcement by stating that Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi will be the Ambassador of the league.
The first tournament that will be held by the ISPT is going to be at the incredible Wembley Stadium, and is going to kick off next year from May 31st to June 6th. The signing of Mizrachi is huge for the league, as it gives them a big name to pair along with their brand new tour, which already has a ton of hype surrounding it. Mizrachi is a two-time champion at the $50k Poker Players’ Championship, and has won three World Series of Poker gold bracelets throughout his career. As Mizrachi stated through his Twitter, he is expecting that the ISPT tour is going to feature “one of the biggest tournaments ever held.”
Choosing Mizrachi seems like not only an excellent choice, but one that almost no one can question as well. To go with his three gold bracelets and two Players’ Championships, he’s all around one of the top players in the games, especially when it comes to bringing in consistent results in poker tournaments. He has been on the tournament circuit for around eight years to this point, and also has two World Poker Tour titles, and has a ton of deep runs in tournaments as well, such as the 2010 WSOP Championship Event which he finished 5th place in. In total, he’s won over $14 million throughout his career, and he can find himself in 7th place on the all-time money list as well.
As far as the tournament that will be held at Wembley, they are expecting to draw around 30,000 players, which is something that is incredible in the live poker world. Players are going to start the action by playing in an online poker tournament and you will be going through different online qualifications from there. After the qualifiers come to a close, players are going to head to Wembley if they are still remaining, and there will be both live and online poker tables ready to go. From there, they are going to work their one down to one final table with the first place pay day being worth around €10 million.
This tournament should draw a ton of hype, and is going to be one of the most talked about tournaments in many, many years as well!
