  • Jonathan Duhamel Retrieves His WSOP Gold Bracelet

Back when Jonathan Duhamel was hit by that scary home invasion and robbery, one of the key things that the well-known professional poker player lost was his 2010 World Series of Poker gold bracelet. This of course, was the bracelet that he earned from winning one of the most prestigious events in all of poker, the World Series of Poker Main Event. After this was stolen from him, he offered a hefty pay day for anyone who was able to find the gold bracelet, and while many of the other things taken from him were returned, no one seemed to be able to find the bracelet. It had been missing for just around two months, until it was finally found this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t exactly in the best shape, mainly because of the fact that it had been run over by a car. At least it was returned to Duhamel, who will now decide exactly what to do with the beat up bracelet.

The bracelet isn’t actually just a standard gold bracelet though, as it also has diamond mixed into it as well. It was found in the Ville-Marie tunnel by a street cleaner named Denis Theriault, and it was found as he actually sucked it up in a street sweeper. When he was emptying the sweeper into the bin, he saw the jewelry that caught his eye, and put two and two together it seems. No one is really sure exactly how all of this happened, but one would assume it had something to do with the fact that the person who had the bracelet wanted nothing to do with getting caught holding it, so they probably threw it out the window at some point.

Unfortunately, the only thing still remaining on the bracelet is the main plate, as it has lost the links, and the entire bracelet is simply beaten and chipped all over the place. Duhamel’s last name was scratched off as well, but his first name is actually engraved in it so there’s no reason for the person to scratch it off! Regardless, the date and name of the tournament is also engraved, so whoever had the idea behind stealing the bracelet was eventually going to get caught with it! Duhamel wrote in his blog that retrieving the bracelet and his watch which was given to him by PokerStars were incredibly important in getting back, so it’s at least good that he’s found both things, even though one of them was almost unrecognizable.

Fortunately, the Media Director for the World Series of Poker, Seth Palansky, had tournament director Mitch Garber let Duhamel know that the bracelet could actually be replaced, which is good news for everyone involved. The Rolex, which was previously mentioned, was found back in December, as was half of the money that was originally stolen from Duhamel. Duhamel has been playing incredible poker since this incident ironically enough though, and it’ll be interesting to watch him moving forward in 2012, as he is poised to have quite a big year.
