  • NJ Championship of Online Poker Set to Run at Partypoker in April

If you’re an online poker player from the United States, and specifically
from New Jersey, then this news is definitely great for you. The new
online poker sites in New Jersey have been doing pretty well since they
kicked off, and now they are taking their tournament play to another level
in April. How is this you ask? Well, two of the largest poker sites in
New Jersey, in NJ.partypoker.com , and
BorgataPoker.com, are going to be hosting the New Jersey Championships of
Online Poker. They are being called the NJCOP, and are going to run from April
19th to April 27th, giving players quite a few different events that they
could take part in, and it should draw in a very good crowd.

The NJCOP is going to feature 15 different events, and they are also going
to be guaranteeing $600,000 in guaranteed prize money also. What’s
interesting as well is that this online poker championship series is also
going to be running at the same time that the World Poker Tour World
Championship is going on, and this is going to be played at the Borgata.
This means that we could see a combination of some big time online poker
play, and also some live poker play going on around the same time. It’ll
be interesting to see how the numbers compare!

Basically, the selling point for this was broken down best by Team
partypoker captain, Mike Sexton. Sexton said that “if you love poker then
you need to be in New Jersey come April 19.” He went on to add that the
“online poker action in New Jersey has been red hot since day one, and the
New Jersey Championship of Online Poker will be the ultimate test for pros
and amateurs alike.” He goes on to say that being in New Jersey during
this time means that you can “make the most of the live and online games!”

While the series features a wide range of tournaments, you’ll find that the
biggest and most attractive of them all is going to be the $200 Main Event,
which features a $200,000 guarantee and has at least $50,000 that will be
going to the eventual winner of the online event. Sexton feels strongly
that these tournaments are going to be very successful, especially since
the site “smashed the guarantee during the $100k major.” The Main Event
will run on Sunday, April 27th and starts off at 5:00pm EST. Sexton also
mentioned that there was a ton of feedback from customers on the draft
schedule through the forums.

To kick off the NJCOP, you are going to have the shot at playing in the
$50,000 Freeroll that starts on Saturday, April 19th at 4:00pm EST. Any
player who makes it to the final table of that event, is going to
automatically get a seat into every single one of the different events that
are going to be running. This offers a value of $2,000, and just goes
along with whatever prize money that you end up taking home. While there
are many tournaments, it’s worth mentioning another big tournament, which
is the High Roller event on April 27th at 6:00pm, and has a $500 buy-in.
This event will feature a $30,000 guarantee, with a guaranteed $10,000
going to the eventual winner.

When looking at the schedules you see things ranging from big guaranteed
events to different satellites as well. There is an event running each
day, with Sunday the 20th featuring four events, including a Bounty event,
a satellite, and a Pot Limit Omaha event. The events are going to run at
different times on the weekends, but during the week you’ll find that the
bulk of the tournaments are going to start up at 7:00pm.

This is going to be a fun time in New Jersey for poker, as players are
going to be back and forth between playing in the big time poker
tournaments in the live action, but also making sure to get into the big
tournaments that are running over the week plus of different events at the
online poker sites. It’s going to be interesting to watch, and we’ll keep
you updated on how the numbers end up looking for both the World Poker Tour
World Championship, and the New Jersey Championship of Online Poker.
