PokerStars Norwegian Poker LeagueTuesday, December 7th, 2010 by t2admin
If you live in Norway then you’ll be happy to hear that PokerStars has brought back the Norwegian Poker league and it starts this month, so you need to start playing soon if you haven’t already started. Since players from Norway are the only players allowed to join the poker league, there really shouldn’t be very many players competing in the league this year. Over the next year there is going to be over $4K in monthly prizes awarded to the top players and a total of 5 EPT prize packages.
The action has already been underway for a few days, but it isn’t to late to try and earn a spot atop of the leaderboard. There are two different divisions in the PokerStars Norwegian Poker League including one money division and one FPP division. Each day of the month there will be 1 tournament from each division played and you can play in one or both if you’d like. The cost for the real money tournaments is $10+$1 and the cost for the FPP tournament is only 25 FPP’s.
Both tournaments with have cash prizes for the top players, but more importantly, the tournaments will award every player with points. The points are used to determine the placing on the leaderboard, so the more points you earn, the better chance you’ll have of winning a monthly prize of possibly even a EPT prize package. The top 50 players from each division will earn a monthly prize with the top player in the cash division winning $1000 and the top player in the FPP division winning $250.
Every couple months the top 9 players on the leaderboard in each division will be added to a freeroll tournament where the 18 players will battle it out for 1 EPT prize package. In December PokerStars is sending a player to EPT Copenhagen, so if you can play a lot of poker over the holidays, you may have a chance at winning a seat into the freeroll. The freeroll tournament is always held on the 3rd day of the next month, so in this case the tournament will be held on January 3rd.
The majority of the points are awarded to the top 9 players in each tournament with 1st place receiving 20 points on the leaderboard and 9th place receiving 10 points. Every other player that finishes in the money in the tournament will earn 5 points and every player that takes part in the tournament will earn a single point. Since there is only one tournament being held each day in each division, it doesn’t take much time out of your day. The tournaments are being held at the same time everyday, with the cash division tourney being held at 20:20 CET and the FPP division tournament being held at 19:40 CET.
