PokerStars is the number one online poker site for many reasons but one of those reasons is the poker pros they sponsor. PokerStars recently announced the UK & Ireland Poker Tour and the site has a UK team that will represent them on the new tour. Julian Thew is the newest player to join the Team PokerStars Pro UK and the announcement comes at the same time the Manchester UKIPT is to take place.

Thew joins JP Kelly, Vicky Coren, Jude Ainsworth and John Duthie on the UK Team. Thew commented on his new appointment by stating: “I’m thrilled to have been offered a spot on Team PokerStars Pro and I look forward to promoting the brand on my travels throughout the year.”

Thew became a poker pro back in 2001 and since then he has become a well like poker pro and an ambassador for the game in the UK. In 2004 Thew finished 9th in his first European Poker Tour event and since then he was earned the number 12 spot on the European Poker Tour’s leader board. He has earned 8 EPT cashes and he has won another 9 tournaments throughout his career. The young poker pro is from Nottingham, England and has earned over $2.5 million in live career winnings during his career.

PokerStars also announced a new player to their Germany Pro team. Michael ‘The Doc’ Keiner is the latest pro to join the Germany team. Keiner will make his debut on the team next month during the EPT Berlin stop. Keiner commented that he and PokerStars have the same goal. They need to ‘get poker recognized as a strategy game in the minds of the public’.
