  • Sam Trickett Wins 2011 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event

The Partouche Poker Tour’s Main Event is laid out in a similar way to the World Series of Poker Main Event, in that there is a break between when the final table begins. The break isn’t quite as long as the World Series’ break, but it is still a two month layoff that gives players time to better their game and study their opponents, so that we get an exciting and well-played all around final table. The buy-in for the event was €8,500, and it featured a total of 579 players buy-in to the event. The winner of this event would take home a nice grand prize of €1,000,000, and the event was played at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes, France.

The final table action started off with Sam Trickett holding the chip lead, and he was able to outlast pushes from many other players at the table, and still got to a heads up match between Salman Behbehani. While he did make it there, he was definitely behind, as he started with nearly half of the chips that his opponent had. The action went back and forth before Trickett finally made the move, and got his chips all in looking for a nice double up. He was fortunate enough to switch the chip lead in that hand, and went on to hold on to win the event and take home the excellent first place prize. Behbehani got a nice consolation prize for his efforts though, as he took home €600,000. All other players who made the final table got a six figure payday as well.

Trickett has been quite the story this year. He’s had quite a few big cashes and wins as well, with one of his most impressive starting with the $100k buy-in Aussie Millions event in which he won the event and took home $1,525,000. Less than a week after that point he brought home a second place finish in a $250k Super High Roller event, and won another outstanding prize of $1,400,000. It didn’t stop there for Trickett though, as he also had a handful of other five-figure scores, with one of those coming at the Epic Poker League’s opening event in which he finished 11th. He also won over $100k in a European Poker Tour Event which he final tabled, and a World Series of Poker Europe Event that he finished 4th in.

To top off the high life that Trickett is living right now, he also finds himself as a newcomer to the ESPN “The Nuts” top 10 rankings. You get credit for things like that, especially when you have won over $4.2 million in a single year from playing poker. He is currently fifth overall in terms of the money list for this year, and finds himself behind only the final three players at the World Series of Poker Main Event, and Erik Seidel, who beat him at the Aussie Millions Super High Roller Event. Keep an eye out for Sam Trickett in the upcoming months, as he’ll definitely be a player to follow.
