  • Stern Message From Kahnawake To Kentucky

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission, licensor of nearly 300 online gambling sites including some of the world’s largest online poker rooms, like Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars, has issued a firm statement in response to the hearings ongoing in Kentucky.

Last month, the governor of the state, Steve Beshear, instigated hostile measures to cease online gambling within Kentucky. As such, Circuit Court Judge Thomas Wingate ordered the immediate seizure of 141 online gambling domains said to be in connection with illegal online gambling taking place within the borders of the Commonwealth.

Since that time, the judge thought it might be wise to take enough time to reconsider his hasty decision, and also give time for a defense team to rebut the accusations. Wingate is now scheduled to give his final ruling Wednesday, October 15th.

However, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, located in the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake, Canada, was not content to sit back and watch how the case plays out. Instead, Grand Chief Michael Ahrihrhon Delisle penned a stern letter to Governor Beshear.

“We are compelled to draw to your attention that your actions will also adversely affect the members of our community and that is not acceptable,” Delisle warned. “This is a perfect example of someone who knows nothing about the effects of their actions.

“It’s not the first time that a government has tried to prevent us from conducting business and it won’t be the last. But, rest assured, we will always protect our jurisdiction and the integrity of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission.”

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is one of the top regulators of the online gambling industry, providing licenses to some of the most distinct online poker rooms in the world. It is easy enough to assume that sites like FullTiltPoker, PokerStars, Cake Poker, Bodog and UltimateBetPoker are pleased with the unyielding, responsive action taken by their licensing jurisdiction, Kahnawake.
