The World Series of Poker Europe has already completed three events, and has seen some new names in poker take down gold bracelets. It hasn’t all been newbies to the gold bracelet though, as poker pro Steve Billirakis was able to take down the WSOPE Event #3; his second gold bracelet of his career. This bracelet may be one of the more talked about ones in all of the World Series, as the final table of this Pot Limit Omaha event was stacked with talent. The Event was a €5,000 buy-in event, and featured some big names like Sam Trickett, Sam Chartier, and even 2011 WSOP Main Event November Niner Eoghan O’Dea.

The final table took quite a while to narrow down to the final few, but after three hours there remained only five players, with O’Dea, Chartier, Konstantin Uspenskiy, and Erich Kollmann all being eliminated from play. As five handed play began, Billirakis was actually sitting in fourth place, while Trickett was holding down the lead. Billirakis didn’t remain in the back for long though, with a huge hand against the big stack in Trickett right before break. The big pot moved Billirakis into second place, and just kept moving up after the break from that point on.

After break, Billirakis went on to eliminate Jerome Bradpiece in fifth place, and was the first player to top the one million chip mark. After that point, Trickett went out in fourth place, followed by Billirakis knocking out Ramzi Jelassi in third; which set up an interesting heads up match between Billirakis and Michele Di Lauro. Heads up play wasn’t exactly a grind though, as it was finished within two hands, with Billirakis winning a million chip pot on hand one, and sending out the knockout punch on hand two.

Billirakis not only took down the gold bracelet, but also won €238,140 for his excellent run through the field. Di Lauro also got a nice prize for taking down second with a payday of €147,171. The top three finishers were actually all paid six figure paydays, with every player who made the final table landing at least €21,000.

Play now continues on at the World Series of Poker Europe as the final table of the €3,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout event. From there you’ll find that the €10,000 Split Format No Limit Hold’em Event is on going, as is the €1,500 Six Handed Pot Limit Omaha event. After that comes the always exciting €10,000 Championship Event, which always draws in some excellent action and some of the bigger names out there in the poker world as well.

It will be interesting to watch Steve Billirakis for the remainder of this World Series of Poker Europe, especially with one other Pot Limit Omaha Event out there as well. Billirakis’ second gold bracelet is incredibly impressive, especially for a player who is big in the cash game circuit as well. Keep an eye on the remainder of the events as you could see quite a few popular names contending for gold bracelets in the upcoming days.
