WSOP Europe Schedule AnnouncedWednesday, March 14th, 2012 by Ryan
The World Series of Poker Europe is always one of the most followed poker tournament series in the game, and the 2012 schedule that was recently announced has some interesting events as well as some great overall tournaments which should draw quite a bit of interest. While this series actually won’t come until after the World Series of Poker, and is over a half of a year from now, the schedule was released to make sure that players know when they can get geared up for some huge tournaments, and also get their travel plans set in stone so that they are ready to roll.
The World Series of Poker Europe will take place in Cannes, France over a span that runs from September 21st to the 4th of October. This will be the sixth annual running of the series, and it will be played at the Casino Barriere de Cannes Croisette and the Hotel Majestic Barriere. Interestingly this will be the second year that the series will be played in Cannes, as the first four years of the series were played in London. If you played in this series last year, you’ll find that the event was actually held two years later last year, but the committee decided to start it earlier this year in order to give players who want to do more outside of the poker aspect of it a bit better weather to deal with.
The players, fans of poker, and media all seemed to love having the event in Cannes last year, which was a big part of the series staying in the area for a second year in a row. On top of that though, the Barriere casino officials and the World Series of Poker Europe also got quite a bit of love for their impressive set up last year as well, as they took down a major award for the Best European Poker Tournament at the European Poker Awards.
For players who are curious what exactly to expect at this year’s event, there will be the same bracelet events (seven of them) that were held in 2011, but there were also be many different non-bracelet tournaments, different levels of cash games, and also quite a few satellites for players who are hoping to win their way into the big time events. So regardless of what type of poker player you are, you’ll find that there are games that will fit your needs, and also some great ways for lower limit players to have a shot at winning a buy-in!
The seven events are listed below, with their dates, and also with which player won the event last year:
€2500 Six Handed No Limit Hold’em- September 21st (Guillaume Humbert 2011 winner) €1000 No limit Hold’em- September 22nd (Andrew Hinrichsen 2011 winner) €5000 Pot Limit Omaha- September 24th (Steve Billirakis 2011 winner) €3000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout- September 25th (Tristan Wade 2011 winner) €10,000 Mix-Max No Limit Hold’em- September 26th (Michael Mizrachi 2011 winner) €1500 Six Handed Pot Limit Omaha- September 27th (Philippe Boucher 2011 winner) €10,000 Main Event- September 29th (Elio Fox 2011 winner)
