The World Poker Tour stop in Ireland, organized by PKR.com, is hosting a series of (more than 200) poker satellites, live, across 26 cities in the country. This will give players the opportunity to win a seat valued at €2,500 at the WPT international poker event. These live games began in October and will continue throughout December. The WPT Ireland tournament will be hosted by the Citywest Hotel, Dublin. The event will begin on the 5th of January, 2012 and will conclude on the 8th of January, 2012.

Winning a Seat at the Tournament

Participating at one of the live satellite games is easy. Approximately 200 local satellites are held, in addition to the 12 that are conducted on a regional basis. Four satellites take place each month. The players who win the local tournaments will win a seat at the closest regional tournament. Once a player wins on a regional level, he or she will get the chance to compete at the WPT Ireland event in Dublin, sponsored by PKR.com.

Poker Rooms to Host the Satellites

The local satellite tournaments will be conducted in poker rooms and pubs all over the country. Each event will have a different buy-in rate. Once a player wins a local satellite, he or she can take part in a regional tournament. The regional events are the last level that a player must win before reaching the WPT Ireland tournament. The satellites will be conducted all over Ireland at places like the Plaza Hotel, the Regency Hotel, The Sidepot, Castleroy Park Hotel and Dundalk and Healy’s Café Bar.

Team PKR Takes on the British Circuit

While PKR.com is busy conducting satellites for the tournament, its players too are doing their bit and staying involved in the poker circuit. One of them is Scott Shelley, who is participating in the final stop of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, to be held in London. The buy-in for the tournament is £2,500. The GUKPT 2010 was Scott Shelley’s first outing as a member of Team PKR.

Though Shelley said that it wasn’t his best day at the felt, it was a good way to start out in the UK poker scene. Other than Shelley, James Sudworth also participated in the tournament before being knocked out in 10th place. The final table in 2010 featured some famous names like Luong-Huu Bui and Chris Brammer. Bui won the tournament and £144,000.

Sofia Lovgren, Vladimir Geshkenbein and Jake Cody will also take part in GUKPT 2011 as members of Team PKR. According to Shelley, he will accept nothing less than a seat at the final table. He has also predicted that his teammates will do well for themselves, especially Geshkenbein, who according to Shelley, will either be knocked out of the tournament before the first break or will be the leader of the pack.

He said that Sofia will manage to grind her way to a bigger stack and take it from there. Shelley stated that James Sudworth would bust to a 2 outer or perhaps a 1 outer in the 4th level of the tournament. Shelley also jokingly said that he hopes that Jake Cody, PKR’s latest star, forgets about the tournament, giving the rest of the team a chance to win.
