Poker Terms Glossary - Bad Beat

Probably the most used term I’ve ever heard. Generally speaking, a “bad beat” occurs when one player has a very strong hand and is beaten by a player with a very weak hand. Usually, the player with the weak hand will backdoor a hand to win. It is generally thought that the player with the weaker hand had no business being in the pot and only one by luck. You will hear “bad beat” stories at every poker room and every poker player has one.
